Stay Cool And Avoid The Summer Heat At Our Personal Training Gym In San Jose

According to the calendar, the official start of summer is only a few weeks away. This means that higher temperatures, sunburnt skin, and excess amounts of sweat are imminent for millions of people across the United States. Are you ready to brave the heat?

If you’re not all-too-excited about the coming scorching weather, we don’t blame you. Though our coastally moderated climate here in the Bay Area means that it seldom gets extremely hot, running and exercising outdoors presents challenges during the summer months — even here.

That’s why Elite Spartans, the go-to bootcamp workout and personal training gym in San Jose, offers several useful and practical ways to stay cool during your summer fitness regimen. If you have any questions about our personal training, small group training, or bootcamp workouts, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at any time.

Staying Cool During Your Workouts This Summer

Wear A Breathable Hat

Hats are, obviously, an effective way to shield your face or the back of your neck from the sun. If you’re going to be out in the direct sun, you should definitely wear one, but also know that not all hats are created equally. There are many hats made with thin, breathable and sweat-wicking materials. You’ll still sweat in it, especially during vigorous exercise, but it will dry faster.

Exercise Early In The Morning And Late At Night

Naturally, the day isn’t as hot when the sun isn’t directly overhead. Becoming a morning person and running or exercising outdoors to a beautiful California sunrise is definitely a great way to begin the day, and ending the day with a breathtaking sunset certainly doesn’t hurt, either.

Pay attention to the weather forecast. If there’s a notable heat wave inbound, be sure to rearrange your schedule so that you can exercise outdoors during the morning or evening when it’s cooler outside.

Consume More Electrolytes

Nothing feels more refreshing than a cold swig of water during an intense, hot workout. However, when you’re profusely sweating, sometimes regular water just isn’t enough to replace all of those lost electrolytes. That’s why Elite Spartans recommends consuming an electrolyte beverage to replenish your potassium and sodium levels. Though people tend to think that products like Pedialyte are just for kids, they’re actually much better at providing electrolytes for your body than sugary sports drinks. You can save money by purchasing the generic stuff.

Soak A Towel Or Bandanna In Cool Water

Placing a wet rag or towel over your head and around your neck will cool you off extremely fast. There are even products designed to stay cool and absorb maximum amounts of moisture to keep you cooler for longer periods of time.
